Who we are

Safarani (safarani.co.tz) is a Tanzania-based online directory of tour operators. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.

What data we collect

Operator listing data

When a tour operator submits a listing via our "List your business" form, we collect: business name, WhatsApp phone number, email address, website URL, base location, price range, description, destinations covered, and activity types. This information is stored in our database (hosted by Supabase, EU region) and displayed publicly on the Safarani directory. Operators can request removal by emailing us.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-ZLP2GM2G4Q) to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, referral sources, and general device/browser information. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects IP addresses, which are anonymised before storage. We do not use this data to identify individual users. You can opt out by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Operator dashboard accounts

Operators who claim their listing receive a magic-link login via email. This uses Supabase Authentication to issue a session. We store only the email address and the session token — no passwords are stored.

What we don't collect

• Payment information — we have no paid features
• Traveller personal data — visitors browse anonymously
• WhatsApp messages or phone call content — contact happens directly between traveller and operator

Cookies

We use cookies for two purposes: Google Analytics measurement (see above) and admin/operator session management (httpOnly, secure cookies that expire in 8 hours or 1 hour respectively). We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties.

Data sharing

Operator listing information is displayed publicly on Safarani as intended. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Analytics data is processed by Google under their Privacy Policy.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, email hello@safarani.co.tz with "Data request" in the subject line. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date.
