Butiama Beach Lodge exceeded every expectation. The island feels untouched and the staff made us feel completely at home. The Big Blu dive team were excellent — we spotted a hawksbill turtle on our very first dive.
The accommodation is in individual bungalows that are bright and breezy, decorated in Zanzibar style, with a specially thought-out outdoor space to enjoy the view of the ocean and gardens full of butterflies and birds. The dinners were outstanding and exceeded expectations for this remote destination.
The staff at Butiama are on par with six-star resorts. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The snorkeling at their sister dive resort was some of the best we have done in the world.
Diving and staying at the Butiama marine camp was great! Mafia Island and Butiama Beach are simply stunning — a perfect balance of luxury and a laid-back coastal vibe. The cuisine was excellent with Italian influence.
