Wonderful 3-day hike from Lushoto to Mambo. Said is an expert on the Usambara region, having been running tours for over 20 years. He took us through his own paths, into different villages and cultures — a non-classic, non-touristic experience. The Usambara mountains were extremely quiet and felt much less touristy than other parts of Tanzania.
Hiking through the Usambara Mountains with a superb guide. Said is full of great knowledge on plants, wildlife, routes, local customs, tribes, and people. While many trekking companies claim to support local communities, Usambara Adventures is one of very few actually giving back.
Incredible hike in the Usambara mountains. Said was highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Accommodations were basic but very good and clean, with excellent food. I saw only one other traveler during the entire 3-day hike — wonderfully peaceful.
