How remote is Ruaha really?
Very. The nearest large town is Iringa, 1.5 hours away. There is no mobile reception in most of the park. This is the real African wilderness — come prepared.
Can I self-drive in Ruaha?
Technically yes, but it is not recommended. Roads are rough and wildlife encounters can be dangerous without a trained guide. Most visitors use a licensed operator.
