Why is Katavi so unknown?
Pure logistics. It takes at least a full day of travel each way, and costs are high. But those who go consistently rank it among their top African safari experiences.
Are there lions and leopards?
Yes — Katavi has good big cat numbers. Lions are frequently seen on the Katuma floodplains, and leopards patrol the riverine forest at night.
